C.K.C. is a secondary school, founded on the 2nd of February 1933, by an Irish Catholic Missionary, the Most Rev. Charles Heerey, C.S.Sp, who was then Archbishop of Onitsha diocese. Except for a brief period, X – XXX, when it had a few female A-Level students, it has been an all-boys secondary school. Rev. Fr. Leo Brolly served as the first principal of the college.
Based on its moto, ‘Bonitas, Disciplina, Scientia’, meaning ‘goodness’, ‘discipline’ and ‘knowledge, the school has been a leading institution in producing men of exceptional competence who have provided leadership in different spheres of human endeavour around the world.
In developing students that are well rounded, C.K.C. students are know to excel In the area of sports, C.K.C is noted to be the first African side to win a global competition when it won the world secondary schools football competition in Dublin, Ireland in 1977. Its students feature regularly in different sports at the local and regional levels with high degree of success.
C.K.C is a well resourced school through the effort of its old boys, the catholic church and the state government. Its educational, social, healthcare and sporting facilities are world class. All of its students are resident on site in the dormitories. Consequently it has a functional onsite clinic. Its library, science labs, Information Technology (IT) are world class. It has an onsite chapel and priests who cater for the spiritual needs of the students.

CKC Old Boys Associations, worldwide have fully dedicated themselves to promoting and protecting the good name of the college and the high value and training imbued in them while in the college. Functional in virtually every city of Nigeria, and across Europe (UK) and America, the Alumni is a reflection a rich harvest of talented achievers, who constantly show untainted love for their alma mater, guided by that well-known expression: ‘may the fame of our college last forever’. Whenever they can, they have given back to the college, the ‘goodness, knowledge and discipline’, for which the college is known.
